Is it all about celebrating the heroes from the past who freed our nation? How about freeing yourself and becoming independent as a person?

What are your plans for today? For me, it's the usual. My daughters and grandchildren will be coming over and it will be good ol' fashioned fireworks, BBQ'd hot dogs and hamburgers.
All good things, and many fond memories indeed.
I remember a moment one Independence Day, many years ago when my grandkids were still very little. My littlest granddaughter came up to me and asked, "Grandpa, what are we celebrating today?"
I told her, "Today, we're celebrating our freedom".
"Freedom from what?" she asked again.
Wow. What a great question.
Yes, sure, we're celebrating the freedom of our great nation, and for that, we're all very grateful and proud.
So I tried my best to explain. I told her about the battles. I told her about the struggles for our rights.
But as I looked into my granddaughter's eyes, I realized that my attempt to explain our nation's freedom was just a jumble of words to her.
What the little one was really asking was... what does all this mean to HER?
So... what does freedom mean to YOU?
For me, true freedom starts with freedom of the mind.
The freedom of true mind power to achieve anything you want. To have the mental power to bounce right back from difficult situations that life throws at you. To be able to tap into your intuition and do the right thing. To make a difference not just for yourself, but for others around you.
And eventually, to reach an inner balance and heightened awareness.
This was indeed a long journey for me. One that took decades of searching, and traveling across many lands to learn from the greatest gurus.
I expect you to have a real reason to celebrate and achieve TRUE freedom, too!
